Street Licence from Durham County Council

If your property, home or business has a street front onto a pavement or Highway then you will need a street licence granting permission to erect scaffolding and carry out building works from the street.

The licence costs £32.50 per week (2018) and can be arranged by us on your behalf with Durham County Council who charge the fee and oversee the agreement.  We will submit the works plans to them and once approved the project can go ahead.

DCC Street Licence Team process applications quickly, so once submitted approval can often be granted in a day or two.  Although DCC say it can take longer so it's best to get organised ahead of time.  This system applies in other council areas, North Yorkshire and Darlington,  Please contact us for further details.
